Hey Atu connects Claude to your own Mac or Linux computer. Add https://heyatu.com/mcp as a custom connector in Claude, allow Claude on the computer, and Claude on the web, on the desktop or on your phone can find files, run commands and edit files there.

Set up in about 5 minutes

Do these steps once, on the computer. After that, ask from anywhere.

Install Hey Atu. Open Terminal and run:curl -fsSL https://heyatu.com/install | sh -s -- --for=mcpIt installs Hey Atu and, if needed, Pi and Node.js.
Link the computer to your Google account. A page opens. Check that its 6-letter code matches the one on your computer, then continue with Google.
Click Add to Claude on the “is linked” page. It opens Claude’s Add custom connector window with Hey Atu filled in. To add it yourself, open Claude’s connector settings, choose Add custom connector, and enter the name Hey Atu and the URL https://heyatu.com/mcp.
Check the address, then click Continue and Connect. It must be exactly https://heyatu.com/mcp. Claude shows a red “suggested by an external link” note for every connector filled in by a link; that is a check, not an error.
Pick your Google account from step 2. This signs in to Hey Atu. Your Claude account can use another email.
Click Allow on the computer. A Hey Atu window says “Claude asks to use this Mac” and shows a code. Check the code first.
Ask from your phone. In the Claude app, tap +, check that Hey Atu is on, and ask “Use Hey Atu to list the files on my Desktop”.

Claude says the connector already exists? Click Cancel, open Hey Atu in your connectors, click Disconnect, then Connect. An old connection can still point at another computer.

Claude Code and Codex

Add the same address as a remote MCP server. Sign-in runs in the browser.

What Claude can do on your computer

Hey Atu gives Claude eight tools. They are the tools of the Pi coding agent, with the same limits:

Look (read only): read opens a file or an image, ls lists a folder, find finds files by name, grep searches inside files.
Change: bash runs a command, edit changes part of a file, write writes a file, codemode runs a short script of the tools above.

Claude can also use them with your Skills: a Skill tells Claude how to do a task, and these tools let it do the task on your computer.

What it does not do

It does not see or click your screen. Claude works with files and commands, not with app windows or the mouse.
It does not work while the computer sleeps. On a Mac, Hey Atu stops idle sleep while it runs, but closing the lid still sleeps the computer. Claude then shows an error; wake the computer and ask again.
It does not add a model. Claude's own model does the thinking, under your Claude plan.
One tool call has about 3 minutes. For a longer job, ask Claude to start it in the background and check the result later.

Questions

Can Claude access files on my computer?

Yes, after you add Hey Atu and allow Claude on that computer. It can read, search and change the files that your user account can reach.

Does it work in the Claude mobile app?

Yes. Add the connector once in a browser on the computer. It then shows in the Claude phone app for the same Claude account: tap + and turn Hey Atu on.

Do I need an Anthropic API key?

No. Claude calls Hey Atu with its own model, under your Claude plan. Hey Atu does not use or ask for an API key.

Does it work with Claude Free?

Yes. Claude Free allows one custom connector. Paid plans allow more.

Can Claude control my screen with Hey Atu?

No. Hey Atu does not see or click your screen. Claude works with files and commands through the eight tools.

How do I stop it?

Disconnect Hey Atu in Claude, or run heyatu mcp off on the computer to stop every AI app at once.
