Every read, edit and command — live on your phone, as it happens on your Mac.

Built for the Pi you already run

Pair with one scan

Run one command on your Mac. Scan the QR code with your camera. No account, no password.

No ports to open

No Tailscale, no VPN, no inbound port. Your Mac connects out to a small relay.

End-to-end encrypted

The relay forwards sealed envelopes. It never reads your prompts, code or results.

Terminal hand-off

Continue the Pi session that is open in your terminal. Dialogs show on both — first answer wins.

File preview

Open Markdown, images and HTML from links in the chat. HTML runs in a sandbox with no network access.

Always there

A background service starts at login and restarts on exit. Pair once, then forget about it.

Several Macs

Switch between Macs from one menu. Each Mac accepts up to five paired devices.

Extensions you choose

Usage, scheduled tasks, mobile rules and viewers. Install only what you want. Pi itself stays unchanged.

Made for iPad too

A persistent session sidebar on wide screens. A focused reading column everywhere else.

Three steps. One QR code.

Set up in under a minute. Nothing to configure on your router.

The relay cannot read your work.

Your phone and your Mac hold the keys. The relay only moves sealed envelopes.

Your model provider's data policies still apply to what Pi sends to the model.

Frequently asked questions

Does this replace Pi?

No. Hey Atu is a remote interface for Pi. You need Pi installed and set up on your Mac. Pi itself is never patched.

Does my Mac need to stay awake?

Yes. Pi runs on your Mac, so the Mac must be awake and online to do work and send results.

Do I need Tailscale or a VPN?

No. The Mac connects out to a Cloudflare relay. You do not open any inbound port.

What does end-to-end encryption cover?

Session content between your phone and your Mac. The relay sees connection metadata, but not the content.

Can I continue a session that is open in my terminal?

Yes, with the attach extension. Your phone messages appear in the terminal, and terminal dialogs also open on the phone. The first answer wins.

How many phones can I pair?

Up to five devices for each Mac. You can forget one device at a time, or all of them.

Is there an App Store app?

Not yet. The iPhone and iPad app is in private testing. People on the waitlist get it first.

Can I use it from Claude or ChatGPT?

Yes, in testing. Claude or ChatGPT can use Pi's tools on your computer after you approve each app. This traffic is not end-to-end encrypted. The relay forwards it and does not store it.

Can I try it today?

Not yet. Join the waitlist and we will tell you when early access opens.
